WISPALS, the Wisconsin Project for Automated Libraries, was organized in 1989 by the librarians at Gateway Technical College, Moraine Park Technical College, and Waukesha County Technical College.  Since then, eight other colleges have joined to form the membership of the current consortium.

While the primary shared focus of the consortium is its shared Integrated Library System, WISPALS has undertaken many additional collaborative projects in its history. From 2017-2022, three subcommittees provided support, resources, and guidance to the consortium in instructional, technical, and user services. Those subcommittee are currently inactive, but you can read more about WISPALS’ historical activities in their Initiatives History document.
